About Us
Mimi Rothman
My name is Mimi Rothman; I have started a foundation to help our kids overcome drug and alcohol abuse. Fresh Start for Our Youth Foundation is being formed to give children in our communities a brighter future. I have personally witnessed the great harm these addictions can have on young people and their families including violence, mental health problems, financial strain, despair and suicide. With four children of my own ranging in ages 10 to 21, I understand the stress in raising kids to lead healthy and productive lives. Without help and support from outside sources there exists a vicious circle of confusion within the family unit to overcome the problem so I decided to take action and help those in need. FSFOY will provide direction and financial support for those who cannot afford it. The futures we provide our kids are what we as adults are responsible for and in that frame of mind I started this foundation.

Katy Weber
Katy Weber was born in Evanston, IL. and has lived in many neighborhoods in the Metropolitan Chicago Area including Palatine where she currently resides with her husband and children. Katy has worked with several community based organizations in the area and has witnessed both personally and professionally the devastation that results in families impacted by addiction. Living a full life in recovery herself, Katy is committed to the furtherance of education and awareness around addiction and the resources to live with and recover from the affliction and its many ancillary effects. Katy currently works as a Human Resources professional and contributes her personal time to her family, her community and recovery programs and activities. Katy is grateful and honored to be included on the Board of FSFOY.

Doctor of Medicine, University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois 1990

I am a well-tenured psychiatrist and lifelong resident of the Chicago area, so I care about the community. My most important job is being an active mother to my three daughters and one son, but I also have a strong passion for improving the lives of other individuals, their families, and our communities. Through my work, I have personally witnessed the confusion, pain, and harm caused by ongoing challenges, like addiction as well as the positive benefits of successful treatment. I look forward to contributing to important successes at the Fresh Start for Our Youth Foundation.
Emily Brecklin
My name is Emily Brecklin, over the years I have worked with a variety of people from different walks of life. I have seen first hand how emotional neglect and abuse, physical neglect and abuse as well as drug and alcohol abuse can effect children, young adults, as well as families as a whole and how much these issues are connected to one another. Addictions have no preference; wealthy or under privileged it exists. Therefore, I am honored to be a part of Fresh Start For Our Youth Foundation to have an opportunity to help those in need whenever possible and to help break the cycle.

Father of two boys and two grandkids, I enjoy spending time with family, friends and most sports events. Over the years I have had the opportunity to get to know many of my clients on a personal level and have been very fortunate in making so many friends. However, I have seen the turmoil that can happen to families when unforeseen events happen like divorce, substance abuse, alcohol abuse and death. I have witnessed families destroyed because of these tragedies and am happy to contribute in any way to help this foundation help those in need.
